Luka Doncic vows to stay away from Rangers games to avoid ‘bad luck’

During a break for the Dallas Mavericks, Luka Doncic and Dirk Nowitzki took the time to watch Game 2 of the 2023 Major League Baseball World Series to cheer on their local team, the Texas Rangers. Unfortunately, the Arizona Rattlers won that game, but the Rangers rallied to take a 3-1 lead in the next two games.

The Slovenian basketball star would win one more game before the Texas Rangers won the WBC, vowing not to play against Dirk Nowitzki again so as not to spoil it for the local Texas team:

“One more time! @Rangers don’t worry @swish41 and I won’t be coming to the game,” Doncic wrote on social media.

In 2021, he watched Game 7 of the American League Championship Series against the Boston Red Sox, which the Padres lost 4-2.

But the Dallas Mavericks are in form, having beaten the San Antonio Spurs and Brooklyn Nets in their first three games of the season and most recently the Memphis Grizzlies 125-110. Doncic is playing phenomenal basketball, contributing 35.3 points, 12.0 rebounds and 11.0 assists per game.

The Mavericks will face the Chicago Bulls on Nov. 1, and Doncic will certainly not be a part of the Pacers’ potential title run. The Rattlers struggled in Game 4 of the 2023 World Basketball Championship against the Pacers, allowing six hits in the final two innings and four in the eighth.

The Mavericks will face the defending champion Denver Nuggets on Nov. 3 in what will be a litmus test in the high-altitude mountains of Colorado.
